Dandelion

I am almost halfway through my first semester at the American College of Healthcare Sciences, studying to earn my Diploma in Herbal Mastery and become a Clinical Herbalist (AKA Herbal Medicine Doctor). I am absolutely loving it. I'm just starting out, but I am so eager to learn, oftentimes studying extra on my own time because I am so incredibly passionate about the field of Herbal Medicine and Holistic Healthcare. I have also been incorporating more and more herbs in my daily life, and I can honestly say I feel better than I have in years. I've become much more active, too, venturing out of the house more than I have in years. It feels amazing to not feel sick all the time. I had honestly forgotten what it feels like to actually go out and have fun. I feel like God has given me my life back, and this is only the beginning. In addition, I've been making herbal remedies for my immediate family members (Red Rose Buds (Rosa centifolia) Medicinal Herbal tea really clears out my sinuses, and Daddy's too!).

About two weeks ago, I became acquainted with Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale) and its many healing properties. Just a few things I've learned about this amazing herb...

  1. Dandelion root can help detoxify the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and blood. It's also a diuretic that can help flush toxins through the kidneys.

  2. Dandelion root tea can improve liver function, stimulate bile flow, and increase enzyme and acid production. This can help with digestion, especially fat digestion, and regulate bowel movements.

  3. Dandelion root extract has anti-inflammatory properties that can help with rheumatoid arthritis, muscle spasms, and swelling.

Wow! Isn't God amazing? And just think, this is just one herb out of thousands! There's just one problem that just breaks my heart. People kill Dandelions every day. These precious herbs are seen as a problem in most American lawns. They're not pretty enough, not perfect enough; deemed an unworthy little weed that shouldn't be allowed to live. Snuffed out with harsh chemicals without a second thought.

I know what some of you are thinking. "Gosh, Amber, it's just a weed. Get over it." Is a baby just a fetus when it's literally dismembered from inside the womb and has their brain suctioned out of their skull, all in the name of "freedom"? Is a diseased baby somehow less worthy of life than a healthy one? By many accounts, that is what Americans believe.

"Approximately 120,000 pregnancies in the United States each year are affected by fetal anomalies, which can include a range of genetic or physical defects that may impact the fetus's viability, health, and quality of life. However, it is important to note that the specific number of these pregnancies that result in abortion is not explicitly documented." It's interesting how the entire American government just dropped the ball on documenting just how many disabled babies are murdered every day for the sake of convenience. Don't you just love how medical professionals truly believe they have a right to weigh in on your unborn baby's "quality of life"? What a joke. Only God knows what anyone's quality of life is going to be, and some of the healthiest able-bodied people have the worst quality of life. But if a beautiful unborn baby has an "anomaly" or a disease, if they're anything less than perfect, their earthly parents have a legal right to deem them unworthy of life. They are snuffed out with chemicals and ripped limb from limb, treated like a piece of garbage so easily disposed of and forgotten about. Better luck next time. Yes, I'm being harsh, because this is real life, and we cannot keep ignoring it, hoping it goes away.

I am a Dandelion, and proud of it! You can like me or not, but I was put here for a reason and I'm going to spread the love of Jesus everywhere I go. I am a beautiful mess made by the God of Job, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who formed me in my precious mother's womb and does not make mistakes.

I am a Dandelion, and I'm here to stay.

***SIDE NOTE***

Do not take herbal medicine unless under the guidance of a Certified Herbalist, as all herbs have contraindications. Stay safe, guys.
